BRANDY visits the Norwood Kids...
The Norwood Kids Foundation will establish partnerships with : · McComb School District's Fine Arts Department. The partnership will include continued tutoring for students in the McComb School District but will concentrate on Fine Arts Department's students needing tutoring in Algebra, English 2 and Social Studies. Athletics who are below passing grades are required to take tutoring in subject needed. The Foundation and the School District have been partners in tutoring sessions since 2000. Subjects of concentration include reading and math. The extended partnership with the Fine Arts Department will enable the students of the McComb School District and the Foundation members to broaden their horizons through drama, band and arts. · The Foundation will adopt the students at the Higgins Middle School. These students are 5th and 6th graders. Foundation staff believes Higgins students are the gateway to the future. Programs offered at Higgins will include tutoring (math and reading), choir - co-directed by Willie Norwood Sr. and performing arts - dance. This school is special to Sonja because she is an alumnus when the school was a high school. · The Foundation is pleased to announce our partnership with the Pike County Arts Council. Due to our success with our U Got Talent Showcases, the Pike County Arts Council has asked us to join with them to promote special events. We will also provide opportunities for our youth to become a part of plays and special events sponsored by the Council and the Foundation. More to come on this partnership. PERFORMANCES: On Monday, November 4, our dance team Attitude performed a routine for Brandy and Robert. They did a wonderful job performing while being nervous. Brandy enjoyed every moment and remembered when she was in a dance team. Saturday, November 2, members of the Foundation performed at a Carnival in Jackson Mississippi. Although the attendance was low, they enjoyed getting away from home. Franklinton Louisiana will never be the same after having the opportunity to witness the members of the Foundation. Performances and kindness were shown all around. MEMBERS, REMEMBER... Each 9 weeks, a copy of your report
card must be submitted to Foundation staff. You're doing a great job! Keep up the good work! Character
Counts!
