The Norwood Kids Foundation

The News Page

April - May, 2002

It's been a long time since the news page was updated. We are so sorry to have waited so long to update our visitors with current news. Please accept our apologies..

So, now here's for the current news!

Your INVITATION

The Norwood Kids Foundation Staff invites you to visit our site each day for news on our programs, Brandy, Ray J and the entire Norwood Camp. Great things will be happening in the future, so tune in each day. Also please visit our messageboard and tell us your thoughts.

The Dance Teams!!

We currently have two dance troupes - Attitude and EnVie. Over the past few months, each team has been busy performing on programs throughout the city. Precision, choreography and grades are all on point. Shh!! It's hard to beat our teams.

Oh, I forgot, we had an audition for Attitude and it was very successful. Congratulations to all who became members!

SINGING, OVER AND OVER...

The Foundation's choir hasn't been sitting around lately either. Each Saturday, they work hard on vocal performances and preparing for the next event. Thanks to Choir Director Betty Robinson, the choir is becoming RED HOT.

FOUNDATION MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Each member of the Foundation must have a grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 to audition for our performing arts programs (dance, drill, and choir). In order to perform at events, each member must maintain a 2.5 GPA. We are proud of each member and parents who are supporting.

Latest News:

On Saturday, February 23, 2002, the Foundation presented a special Black History Month program. Foundation performing arts team performed and presented selected citizens with a certificate for their contributions to African American advancement in the County.

Our Drama team performed a skit "The Singing River". This skit educated our audiences with invention and contribution made by African American to society.

Foundation members and other community youth also performed a play funded by the Mississippi Arts Commissionom entitled "From Africa to America". Cecelia Quinn, Cassandra Burks and Gail Spinnato directed this play with special consultant - Charles Crossley assisting.

Over 250+ community citizens attended. It was a grand old time. Special thanks to all the parents and community volunteers for their efforts and support.
